At Luna we believe in designing with thought and sewing with care. We believe in slow fashion and ethical production. That is why all our pieces are made by hand in small batches, in beautiful Cape Town, to offer you the best quality and beautiful unique products without doing any harm. Our little to no waste approach means that most of our products are made to order. This means that our lead time is longer, but that we are being as kind to the earth as possible. x
Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Luna was founded by Mianca Teifel. She started the business because she wanted to be able to create something using her hands, that could make other women feel comfortable and beautiful in what is closest to their skin.
"I'll start of by saying that I have always loved the moon. That is how the business received its name. Luna is the latin name for moon and in ancient Roman myth, Luna is the divine embodiment of the Moon and she is often presented as a goddess who is the female complement of the Sun. In some stories she is portrayed as "queen of the stars", an image I have always been especially fond of."
Our all female Luna team truly loves designing and creating pieces which aspire to make the women who wear them feel strong and beautiful, whilst running a business that is as ethical as possible. We want every woman to recognise the magic that comes with dressing for herself and supporting slow fashion.
